Safe and Sound in Tanzania

After 16+ hours, the guys made it to Africa! Read on for more.

“Arrived safe and sound in Tanzania. Quite the journey! Staying at the Rivertrees Lodge which feels quintessentially African – beautiful grounds with an open-air lodge, restaurant and dining areas. Nice fire pit where people gather at night. We have our own “house” with four separate rooms. After a rather pathetic game of Kadima (yes, we brought Kadima) we had a nice dinner at the outdoor dining area. Perfect start.

Today was a safari at Arusha National Park which is about 25 kilometers from our lodge. Starting at an elevation of around 1500 meters it is a 350 square kilometer park just off Mount Meru. We did a short hike where the guide told us about the park and its animals and plant. Next, we took a fantastic Jeep safari and had the opportunity to see some amazing animals from very short range – monkeys, baboons, water buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, hippos, flamingos, eagles plus a few others. It’s a true privilege to experience animals in their own environment. Great day and on to Kilimanjaro tomorrow.”
