Big things happening. The first implementation under the Grace Holland Cozine Foundation of the NEDA Body Project facilitator training was held at the Great Neck Public Schools. Dr. Gerald Cozine, Principal of Richard S. Sherman North Middle School, thank you so much for making this dream a reality and thank you to everyone who has donated – this is going to change the way we talk about mental health in our schools.
On Nov. 19, nine Great Neck Public School teachers, counselors, and coaches representing the high schools and middle schools took part in The Body Project Facilitator Training. The facilitator training, which was funded wholly through support from the Grace Holland Cozine Foundation, endeavors to provide these educators with the skills and resources to run workshops for high school students. The workshops are group-based interventions that provide a forum for women and girls to confront unrealistic beauty ideals and engage them in the development of healthy body image through verbal, written, and behavioral exercises.
